Since it doesn’t seem like many studios use Carrara (could be wrong) Daz sppear to rely on sales to individuals to fund Carrara development (unlike Studio which seems funded by sales of content in the Daz store). Carrara is a pretty good deal at its full price which most people never pay anyway given the frequent specials and magazine giveaways. To Daz’s credit, they have fixed a lot of incompatability issues that stopped simple things, like exporting heightmaps, from working.ĭaz need to tweak their business model a little, IMHO. Personally I see little difference between Bryce 3 that I left ages ago, and this product.
There are a couple of nice tweaks, but for some stupid reason (quite possibly because they just change what their community complains about) they’ve only made the changes to one or two areas. The problem at the moment is, Daz’s changes are as inconsistent as the interface. That material lab is still as crazy and flexible as ever. While most of the stuff is grainy and outdated, there are some really impressive works out there. Heh, well they’re a bit better than that. Wow, the quality of renders made around 2000 made available in 2010 ! Yeah, the old bolt-on is in full effect with 7 I’ve had a fair few crashes under Windows, but they are repeatable. Just keep on bolting new modules and features on top of it, Daz.
